Why don’t we get more qualified people to run for the presidency?

By

Obama = failing
McCain = wishy washy
Bush = not so great
Gore = Lurch
Clinton = serious character flaws

No matter the party affiliation where is the charismatic guy or woman without a shady past and without shady past associations who knows economics, would do the right thing about foreign with foreign policy, etc… etc…

WE ARE IN TROUBLE AMERICA!!!!

What is the deal?

Apparently, the Ivy League Educated people running the country have been doing a piss-poor job.
I’m ready for a common sense guy.

    Because there are people that actually believe those lying negative attack ads – and they vote.

    Because only sell outs get elected, the trick is dooping the people into thinking they are looking out for their best interests, funny there are no shortage of dupes in America

    Because the wealthy elite gets to decide the qualifications. Not us unimportant insects. Oh yes, we are in trouble. Such a shame really, when there are more of us than there are of them.

    It takes a huge financial backing to run for POTUS.
    This is why only the corrupt and wealthy run for office.

    Until a new govt system is installed, it will always be business as usual.

    Think about what is required of a person to run for president.
    They have to be arrogant enough to believe they can single-handedly run a country of 300+ million people.
    They have to be able to sell ice to Eskimos.
    They have to be able to deal with evil lying weasles (politicans) all day long, every day.
    They have to be willing to let the media discuss every flaw of themself and their family 24/7/365.

    What normal, well adjsted, and sane person wants that job? Is it any wonder that only the nut jobs run?

    The answer my friend isn’t politic at all, but basic mind games.

    When people look for a leader, they don’t want the most able-bodied, or the strongest, or the most wise. They want the one who is the most charismatic and thus can sell themselves to be the leader. The most apt president might be such a failure at social skills that he couldn’t convince a squirrel that he should lead anything. Our mind tells us that, logically, the person who can convince me that he is the best should be the best. After all, he’s being truthful, isn’t he?

    Alas, he is not. Presidents know how to talk the talk, but often cannot walk the walk.

    By the time you get to President, you are owned by so many people it’s hard to know whose arse to kiss first. Anyone with real intelligence would run from the job and not put themselves or their families through it.

    Until America returns to the Citizen Statesman, and prohibits "career" politicians and money dealing Lobbyists it will continue to be mired in corruption, and hobbled by "representatives" who are completely out of touch with American Citizens, believing themselves above the very laws they inflict upon the citizenry.

    Yeah, let’s get a guy in there who understands economics. Maybe the son of a Harvard-educated economist. But I also want someone who knows and respects the Constitution, maybe a guy who studied Constitutional law. Of course, we’d want to know his past, so let’s vote for a guy who has a memoir out detailing his life.
